One 41.5" x 31" paper "Bird's Eye View of Aspen, Pitkin County, Colo. 1893" map of Aspen dated 1893. The map is a colored map with a tan background and light blue and green coloring along with white and black coloring. There is an issue of the Aspen Times on the reverse side, Vol. XV, no. 27, Aspen, Colo., Tuesday morning, February 14, 1899. The map is divided into eight pieces that are not connected.
In 1899, the trains were unable to make it into Aspen with supplies, and the newspapers did not have paper to print on. The Aspen Times produced three days (February 13,14, and 15) of one page special edition papers printed on the back of the Bird's Eye posters.
72.3.1 is another copy of this map, but has February 15 issue of the newspaper on the back.
